Is Gillingham for You?

Lottery

Gillingham serves K-12th grade students in Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania.  If there are more applicants than spaces available, a lottery is held to fill available seats. Preferential seating is given first to returning students, then to children or grandchildren of GCS founders, then to siblings of currently enrolled students, then to residents of the Pottsville Area School District (where GCS is located), and then to students from other districts in the county.

There is a public lottery each summer to fill open seats in each grade. If any seats become available throughout the school year, the same order of preference applies.

School Tour

To determine if Gillingham is the right fit for your child and you, please sign up for one of our tours. To do so, call our Enrollment Coordinator at 570-955-3830 ext. 121.

Parents or guardians must bring the following to the tour:

  • An essay written by the student about his or her schooling experience, goals, and reasons for considering Gillingham (students who are too young to write may tell their stories to adults who are willing to write down their words).

  • Student’s current and previous report cards and/or transcripts,

  • Student’s discipline records, and

  • Student’s attendance records.

Once you bring these documents, we can begin our tour.

If you would like to enroll your child (or children), the next step is to meet with a director for an interview.

Interview

After your tour, let’s get to know each other and see if Gillingham is for you. During the interview we will discuss school expectations and policies. We are a different type of school, and we want to ensure that you, as a parent, and your child (or children) understand the way we approach education, discipline, grades, et al. Ultimately, we want to make sure that if you and your child (or children) choose Gillingham, it will be a success.

Enrollment

If you have decided that Gillingham is the right fit, the Enrollment Coordinator will guide you through the final steps of the enrollment process.
