Is Gillingham for You?

Gillingham serves K-12th grade students in Schuylkill County.  Preferential seating is given to returning students, residents of the Pottsville Area School District (where GCS is located), children of GCS founders, and siblings of current students. If there are more applicants than spaces available, students from other districts in the county are randomly selected in a lottery.

There are 3 summer lotteries which are open to the public, but the same preference is given throughout the year.

School Tour

To determine if Gillingham is the right fit for you and your child, please sign up for one of our tours. Parents or guardians must bring the following to the tour:

  • An essay written by the student about his or her schooling experience, goals, and reasons for considering Gillingham (students who are too young to write may tell their stories to adults who are willing to write down their words).

  • It helps if parents/guardians also bring:

    • Student’s current and previous report cards and/or transcripts,

    • Student’s discipline records, and

    • Student’s attendance records.

Once you bring these documents, we can begin our tour.

Then if you would like to enroll your child(ren), the next step is to meet with a director for an interview.

After your tour let’s get to know each other and see if Gillingham’s for you. During the interview we will discuss school expectations and policies. We are a very different type of school, and we want to ensure that you, as a parent, and your child(ren) understand the way we approach education, discipline, grades, etc. Ultimately we want to make sure that if you and your child(ren) choose Gillingham, it will be a success.

If you’ve decided that Gillingham is the right fit, the Enrollment Coordinator will guide you through the final steps of the enrollment process.
